Ill be the first to admit I don't know much about the standard of football from the country that is Switzerland but I do how ever know they make great chocolate.
After reading today's news from Mirror Football titled, "England are a bunch of bottlers, says Swiss striker", I was some what surprised to read that Swiss striker Alex Frei last night claimed that England always choke at major tournaments. There's no lying as yes, this is pretty much true but do we really need this re-enforced by Mr Tear Jerker himself? On one hand NO WE DONT! but on the other, this will hopefully boost our boys to play harder and come out with a result. Although Fridays performance was to a good standard (made even better by the company of Mr Chedders and a take away) I wont be getting my hopes up just yet but as always have hope in the usual suspects that be Defoe, Milner, Hart and may be even new boy Adam Jonson to pull it out the bag. Frei is regarded as one of his country's top players. The old man, 31, said "England never live up to their hype after qualifying" and claimed "Anything but victory tonight for Fabio Capello would be a disappointment."
He went on to say, ‘Unfortunately for the English, they are better in qualifying than in the final rounds. They always say before the tournaments, they are dark horses and then they go out early."
If any thing it is not the team themselves who regard themselves to be the dark horses (on the pitch anyway) but the media, the fact that the team consists of some of the most over payed Premiership footballers in the country and the odd supporter that piles on the pressure for them to achieve success which, especially after the World Cup is something we have yet to see much of but greatly deserve. The only scoring coming from the team that seems to be hitting the headlines at the moment seems to be them banging their balls in the wrong kind of goals, good for them at the time no doubt but sadly enough not for us.
So, as for you Mr Alex "Cry Baby" Frei, up yours and stop putting a downer on us just as the future is beginning to look some what bright!
